Today, August 31, is Eat Outside Day. If the weather is permitting, today is the day to enjoy a meal outside while enjoying the fresh air.
These days it seems there is not enough time for everything. It can be easy to rush through a meal so you can move on to the next thing on your calendar. You may not even take the time to leave your desk to eat. I admit I have been guilty of this myself. Perhaps you’ve even eaten while driving on the way to the next meeting.
It can be difficult, but we need to make the time to break away from work, from meetings, from the stress of life and take the time to reset. By stepping away to enjoy a meal in peace, it will not only help your body better digest the meal but will allow your mind to recharge. This recharge can then help increase your productivity.
For some people, enjoying a meal with others is the best way to recharge. The others in your group can even make sure you take that needed break. For some people, enjoying a meal alone allows your mind to truly rest while you enjoy reading or listening to music. There is no right or wrong here, it just depends on what helps you relax.
Today, try to find a nice spot to enjoy a meal and take a break from the day. If you can’t go outdoors, though, at least get outside the normal stressful environment. Give yourself a small break, and better yet, make this a daily habit if it isn’t already part of your routine.
