Someday

Someday I’ll start that blog. Someday I’ll start my business. Someday I’ll make a change in my career. Someday….

Sound familiar? Some of these “somedays” may be small. We may have that small to-do list that just seems to never be completed. Someday we’ll clean out the garage or attic. Someday we’ll replace that broken doorknob. These “somedays” may be mildly annoying, but it can ease some stress and add to your sense of accomplishment when they are finished and crossed off your list. Today, September 15th, we look at these “somedays” and begin to cross them off that list.

For those “somedays” related to your professional life, don’t let these just drop off. Let’s see how many of these “somedays” we can bring in today or at least to a more specific point of time. Today I’ll open an account for that blog. Today I’ll book time with my manager for this week to discuss my career goals with the company. Today I’ll sign up for that next training class to build on my skills so I’m ready for that next opportunity.

For those “somedays” related to your life outside of work, don’t let those drop off as well. Today look at when you can book time for that vacation with your family. Today look for that recipe to make that special meal you’ve been planning on making one of these weekends but just never seem to have the time. Today look at your finances and book some time to talk to a financial counselor to discuss a plan for getting out of debt.

Let’s see how many of these “somedays” we can turn into today or at least a more specific timeframe. You never know how much time you have before a “someday” becomes a “never.”
