The Changing Leaves

Today, October 3rd, we sit back with a cup of our favorite coffee, take a deep breath, and look out the window for just a few minutes while we enjoy the colors of the autumn season. This day, we celebrate Look at the Leaves Day.

Each morning we get up and start working through our routines. We help our families get ready for school or work. We get ready for the commute into the office. If we don’t have a commute, we ready our home office for another workday. Each item on our calendar and in our to-do list is checked off as we push through the workload. At some point we break for lunch, but it can be easy to either eat quickly to keep working, or worse, we eat at our desks and barely look up from our computer. Finally, the day ends, but only for us to prepare a repeat performance the next day. We know what to expect each day, and even though we would like something different, we fear the unknown which a change would bring.

We work hard, but it can be all too easy to not come up for air. Some may say it’s important to stop and smell the roses. Today, I say stop and reflect on the colors of the autumn season.

Steal a few moments for yourself for a much-needed rest. Reflect on the changing color of the leaves. Enjoy their beauty and think of what we can learn from this change in season. Are you in a time of change? Are you thinking of changing careers or where you live?

Change can be frightening, but it can also bring beauty. A change where you live can open the opportunity to create new friendships. A change in career can bring you satisfaction in a career you enjoy.

Remember to take a few minutes out of your busy day to look at the changing leaves. Enjoy their beauty. It’s a sign that life goes on, seasons do change. The seasons change in nature, as well as in our world. Pause, breathe, and enjoy the colors of autumn.
