Today, November 23rd, here in the United States we are celebrating Thanksgiving. Today is a day set aside for reflecting on how we have been blessed and remember to be grateful.
There are those who will spend today watching American football. There are those who will spend the day cooking up a variety of dishes using recipes only pulled out this one day of the year. Some will travel a distance to celebrate with friends and family, while others may be holding a small celebration in their home.
There is no right or wrong way to celebrate this day. Whatever activities are planned for today, the important thing to remember is that we should be grateful for all we have. Be grateful for the friends in your life that enjoy watching a football game with you this afternoon. Be grateful for the food before you and the people in your life who share this occasion with you.
Too often in this world we want more than what we have. We want a bigger paycheck, we want a bigger place to live, we want a more respectable job title. It’s okay to pursue those things, but it’s even more important to be thankful for what we already have. Be thankful for the small house providing a roof over your head. Be thankful for the small paycheck that is at least providing some income for the time being. Be thankful for the job that is providing an income during this phase of your career, for it is a steppingstone in your career path.
Today, we remember to be thankful for all we have. Let us not reserve our thankfulness for one day in the year. Let us remember to be thankful for our blessings every morning as we plan our day and remember how we have been blessed as we end our day.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
