Today, February 6th, is National Chopsticks Day. Today is the day to give a try at using a different tool during your mealtime.
There are many people in the world who use two simple sticks to consume their food. A pair of chopsticks not only provide a means of picking up the food from the plate to your mouth, but it can also help exercise some unused muscles. According to National Today NATIONAL CHOPSTICKS DAY – February 6, 2024 – National Today, each time you use chopsticks to lift that next bite to your lips, you are using over 50 different joints and muscles. This is certainly a way to slow down your eating time if you want to prevent yourself from eating too quickly.
Chopsticks serve the same purpose as a fork. In both cases, the person is using a tool to lift hot food from a plate up to the mouth, bite, lower the tool for another piece of food, repeat. It is quite simple. All that matters is the person is comfortable with the tool.
A pair of friends decide to go out to lunch. One uses a pair of chopsticks, and the other chooses to use a fork. They are both eating steamed rice. Does it really matter which tool is employed during the meal? As long as they are both able to move the steamed rice from the bowl to their mouth, the goal is achieved.
In other areas of life, we may find ourselves using different tools than others to achieve the same goal. Some people prefer using a laptop for their computer needs. Others may prefer their smartphone. As long as both can pull up what they need, the tool does not matter. Perhaps one person prefers to learn how to use a computer application by watching a training video, while another prefers to read an instruction guide. Each person learns differently, but they can both achieve the same goal of becoming a proficient user of an application.
As long as a method does not break any rules and does not interfere with other people’s ability to function, the tools and method should not be important in our day-to-day living. Accept that we all work differently.
Today, consider using a pair of chopsticks during a meal. You may enjoy it. If you do, great. If you do not, that is fine too. What you should not do is judge others for using a different tool to enjoy their meal.
