Today, February 7th, is Wave All Your Fingers at Your Neighbor Day. Today we are encouraged to wave a friendly hello to our neighbor.
We never know what someone is going through. Someone may have recently experienced a breakup with someone they thought they knew. A person may have just found out they are being laid off from a job they have held for years. Perhaps a job prospect fell through. That phone call they took a short while ago was news that someone dear to them is sick.
A simple wave with a smile takes little effort. However, that friendly wave may give the receiver a small lift from a down moment. It can create an opportunity for the receiver of that wave to come over and share why they are hurting.
Then again, your neighbors may have just received great news. They got the job. That big business deal came through. That phone call was from their loved one that is out of the hospital and now doing better. Your neighbor is heading out to prepare for a wedding because she said yes.
That little wave over the fence may allow that neighbor to come over and share the great news. Great news, which should not be held in, can now be let out, thanks to a friendly wave hello.
Today, send a friendly wave to your neighbors at home, and do not forget your neighbors at work. If your coworkers only see you virtually, send a little virtual wave through whatever communication tool you use. These days, there is much bickering. Today, show a friendly moment with your neighbor. Perhaps they will send you a friendly wave back. Perhaps this trend will extend tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.
