It is very easy to let life get in the way of our goals. We start off with good intentions, we make some progress, and then we encounter a setback. We tell ourselves we’ll get back on track tomorrow. Well, perhaps next week. Next month, absolutely.
One day, you look up, and several weeks, or months, have gone by. Your goal is still sitting there, unmet.
Sound familiar?
My goal for this blog initially was to provide daily posts to give readers something to lift them up, inspire them, or at least offer a new perspective on some area of their lives.
Then my goal changed to weekly postings.
Then, the writing dried up.
I’m having to remember the very piece of advice I have given to others. It is not too late to revisit a goal. When we don’t reach a goal, instead of looking at it as a failure and quitting, look at it as a learning opportunity. Evaluate what happened, what needs to be changed, and pivot. Then, proceed with the revised plan.
This is how we keep moving forward.
With the new year, and a lot of reflection, I’m back to my goal of weekly postings. I’ll continue to strive to meet that goal, but I will also remember to allow myself grace should writer’s block, or any other life event, ever cause me to stumble again.
I hope you remember to allow yourself some leeway as well. Miss making a bullseye for that goal? Just give it another try. If you stumble, just keep moving forward as best you can. Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back.
